I wanted to touch base with you on a few issues that lie ahead.
First of all the q-scores in regard to nationals I believe a far off. I spent an hour on the phone with Dennis last week and we both agree the scores have not stabilized. The question is what is a good score? Something that was discussed was setting a conservative score with a quota back up. Until the JOPC meets this is all speculation.
An area that we do know is the automatic qualifiers. Below is a list of that information.
Level 5- Top 5 (7-9), Top 5 (10-11), Top AA in (12 plus)
Level 6- Top 3 (8-9), Top 5 (10-11), Top 3 (12 plus)
Level 7- Top 3 (10-11), Top 3 (12 plus)
Level 8- Top 6 (14 plus)
Level 9- Top 6 (12-13)
Level 10- Top 3 (14-15)
Level 10- Top 3 (16-18)
Remember, the automatic qualifiers was set up to ensure every state will have representation.
The State Team competition is different from automatic Qualifiers.
Level 5- Top 6 regardless of age group
Level 6- Top 6 regardless of age group
Level 7- Top 6 Regardless of age group
Level 8- Top 6 (14 plus)
Level 9- Top 6 (12-13)
Level 10- Top 6 (14-15)
Level 10- Top 6 (16-18) Level 10 was changed to 2 teams at last years Regional
Championships.
Just to remind everyone. Top 3 scores count in each level (At
regionals. You must name your
team at the State Championships. The info. you send to
Tony
Regionals Meet director) must have
your team listed.
Now, on to the burning question about regional q-scores. The q-scores from last
year are as follows.
Level 5- 49
Level 6- 47
Level 7- 46
Level 8- 37.5
Level 9- 40
Level 10- 38
Judging the compulsories
has not changed. I would like you to look at the possibility of raising level 5
to a 50, level 6 to a 48, level 7 to a 47.5. Let me know the data..
As far as the optionals
I would like you to look at Level 10 score as a 33, Level 9 at a 39 and level 8
a 39. Look at the data and see where your state stands. The numbers I am pushing
forward gives us a starting point.
E-mail the group with your thoughts. I would like everyone on the same page.
